Shilo Sanders Draft Stock Takes Hit After Struggles Versus K-State
Known for his hard-hitting style, Shilo Sanders has been criticized for...
As you know, a lot of controversey is surrounding Cam Newton, his father, and the University of Auburn right now. Looking forward, I already wrote an article predicting where he might go in the draft, so today let’s examine why Mr. Newton may enter the draft.
Reason #1- Cam is a 21 Year Old Junior
Here is the thing, by draft time next year Cam will already be turning 22. If he decides to enter the draft after his Senior season he will then be a 23 year old NFL rookie. That certainly is not old, but when you are a 22 year old young man who technically isn’t allowed to be paid for your job which you perform better than anyone else in the nation you have to make a decision whether you want to put up with the crap for another year or not. Late night studying or lat night partying in an exciting city like Miami? Hmmmmm….
Reason #2- Cam is Going to Get Screwed Out the Heisman
Don’t get me wrong, I certainly think Cam has earned the Heisman trophy. If Boise State could have ran the table I believe that Kellen Moore would have been given the trophy by the voters. Right now, if Oregon wins out you may see LaMichael James be given the trophy, but he has his NCAA issues. The voters may be forced to give it to Cam, but I look to them to make a case for Andy Dalton or another player to avoid a Reggie Bush situation.
Reason #3- Strike Why The Iron Is Hot
Cam already has the examples of Matt Leinart and Jake Locker to pull from. If you are going to be a high draft pick as a Quarterback, you must come out. The chances of you having multiple electric seasons at that position is just too low to chance it. If you are a first round QB, you must come out in your Junior season these days.
Reason #4-The QB Market is About to Stale
In the next two years, every team that wants a young QB will have one already developing. Guys like Jimmy Clausen, Kevin Kolb, Tim Tebow, Colt McCoy, and presumably Andrew Luck will all be on NFL rosters waiting to be handed the keys one day. The demand is going to drop for young signal callers in a major way with only the most dysfunctional franchises in the market.
Reason #5- The Dollar Dollar Bills!
