Jaguars Aggressively Pursuing Trade to Land Travis Hunter in 2025 NFL Draft

The Jacksonville Jaguars are not being subtle.

League sources confirmed Thursday that Jacksonville has been aggressively working the phones, attempting to orchestrate a blockbuster trade that would catapult them into the top three of the 2025 NFL Draft. Their target? None other than college football’s most electrifying two-way star: Travis Hunter.

Hunter, a once-in-a-generation athlete out of Colorado, is widely expected to be selected within the first three picks — either by the Tennessee Titans at No. 1, the Cleveland Browns at No. 2, or the New York Giants at No. 3. With teams hesitant to budge from their positions, Jacksonville faces long odds — but sources say that hasn’t deterred their front office from trying to make the leap.

“All-In” on Hunter

One high-ranking AFC executive described the Jaguars’ pursuit as “obsessive,” saying the team views Hunter as the missing piece to vault Jacksonville from fringe playoff contender to legitimate Super Bowl threat.

“This isn’t just about talent,” the executive said. “This is about identity. They believe Hunter can transform their defense and inject swagger into the entire franchise.”

Hunter, who played both cornerback and wide receiver at an elite level under Deion Sanders, is considered one of the most versatile prospects in modern draft history. His combination of speed, instincts, and ball skills make him a fit for any secondary, and his ability to contribute on offense is seen as a luxury that only a handful of NFL teams could truly maximize.

Roadblocks and Reality

But here’s the issue: The Titans reportedly love the idea of drafting Hunter No. 1 overall, unless they choose to build around a quarterback like Cam Ward. Meanwhile, the Browns have kept their cards close but are said to be enamored with Hunter’s upside, especially as a defensive playmaker. And the Giants? After meeting with Hunter and sending their full contingent to his pro day, they appear fully locked in.

That’s left the Jaguars offering a king’s ransom to get in the mix.

Allegedly, Jacksonville’s latest offer looked something like this:

  • Their 2025 first-round pick (No. 5 overall)

  • Their 2026 first-round pick

  • A starting player

  • A third-round pick this year

Tennessee, according to insiders, didn’t say no — but they haven’t said yes either.

“They’re dragging their feet,” a source close to Jacksonville’s front office said. “But we’re not done. If it takes more, we’ll put more on the table.”

What’s Next?

With hours ticking down until draft night, the Jaguars are reportedly still in talks with all three teams in the top three. A last-minute shakeup isn’t out of the question, especially if the Titans pivot toward a quarterback and the Browns decide to trade down for additional assets.

But if Jacksonville lands Travis Hunter, don’t expect them to be quiet about it.

“This would be one of the most aggressive draft moves in franchise history,” said one person. “And if they pull it off, it changes everything for them overnight.”

Stay tuned. The Jaguars are swinging big — and they might not miss.
