After being asked about his Heisman Trophy prospects, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders gave a heartfelt and humble response, turning the attention to his teammate and close friend, Travis Hunter. “I just want Travis to win,” Sanders said. “He is the best player in college football hands down, and I’m just excited for him to win it. That will make my day.”

Sanders started the game with an impressive 15 consecutive completions, racking up two passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown in the first half alone. Despite his standout performances week after week, Sanders has not been a central figure in the Heisman discussion—a fact that has baffled fans and pundits alike. His Heisman odds stand at +1500, far behind other frontrunners, including Hunter, who has soared to a +200 position on the list. Other players in contention include Dillon Gabriel at +300 and Cam Ward at +400.

Even Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, Shedeur’s father, couldn’t help but joke about his son’s absence from the Heisman conversation, saying, “And he’s not even mentioned for the Heisman? My bad—he’s my son, that’s why.”

With five weeks left in the season, both Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are among the most dynamic players in college football, pushing boundaries and redefining what it means to be contenders at the collegiate level.
