Shilo Sanders Draft Stock Takes Hit After Struggles Versus K-State
Known for his hard-hitting style, Shilo Sanders has been criticized for...
Denzel Burke is a cornerback from Ohio State. He has been impressive since his freshman campaign, appearing in all eight games and starting in three of them. Burke has excellent size for a cornerback at 6’0″ and 195 pounds, and he uses his length and athleticism to his advantage in coverage.
Burke has quick feet and fluid hips, allowing him to change direction and stay with receivers in man coverage. He also has good instincts and ball skills, which he demonstrated by recording two interceptions and three pass breakups in his freshman season.
One area where Burke could improve is his physicality in press coverage. He has the size and strength to be a more physical corner, but he sometimes allows receivers to get a clean release off the line of scrimmage. However, this is a minor issue that can be corrected with coaching and experience.
A player comparison for Burke would be Marlon Humphrey of the Baltimore Ravens. Both players have excellent size and athleticism for the position, and they use their length and ball skills to make plays on the ball. Like Humphrey, Burke has the potential to develop into a shutdown corner at the next level.
