Giants Scouts Reportedly Eyeing Shedeur Sanders as Future QB1
The buzz around Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders continues to grow, and...
DraftKings (DKNG) sent out a press release yesterday with exciting news: the company is going public. Now you will have the chance to invest in daily fantasy. I do not know if this is a good investment or not but it is worth paying attention to.
Here is the news of DraftKings going public:
Today, we are thrilled to announce that DraftKings is officially listed on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol, “DKNG.” This marks the start of a new era for us. One that includes full control of our backend technology and trading platform with our acquisition of SBTech. This allows us to offer you even more innovative ways to engage with your favorite American sports, more resources allocated to innovation, new products and enhancing every touchpoint with our most important stakeholder; you, our valued customer.
It was 8 years ago this week that we launched DraftKings, after countless nights and weekends of working out of Paul’s spare bedroom in Watertown, Massachusetts. We built DraftKings for the millions of “skin-in-the-game” American sports fans just like us. We are proud to say that since day one, we have never stopped working with our exceptional teams, partners, investors and customers to bring our vision to life: To build the best, most-trusted and highest-quality sports and gaming products for sports fans everywhere. Our version of the American Dream.
We want to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU for your belief in us, our company and what we have created together. We recognize that through every turn you have been right alongside us, cheering us on and giving smart and passionate feedback. You have always held us to the highest of standards and without your engagement, we know DraftKings would not be the product it is today. We owe everything to your loyalty, enthusiasm and the trust you have placed in us, and we will never take this for granted.
You know better than anyone that our road to get here has not been easy. We pitched over 40 investors for startup funds before we heard a “yes.” It took the daily fantasy sports industry years before we signed the first-ever DFS league partnership in 2013 with Major League Baseball. Together with you, we collaborated with lawmakers, regulators and others across the country and internationally to advocate for what we knew sports fans wanted, and successfully helped enact new legislation to protect all consumers while responsibly allowing you to play the games you love.
As we celebrate, we also recognize that many of you are going through financial, health, social and emotional hardships that have changed our lives forever. And none of us know when or how this is going to end. What we do know, however, is that giving back has always been a passion point of our community. Whether it’s through Tech For Heroes, our initiative to provide continuing education and mentorship to veterans, breast cancer research or natural disaster aid, we have worked together with you to donate to many different causes. A few weeks ago, we started by donating $500,000 to the United Way’s local community response efforts for COVID-19, and with your help, we hope to reach $1 million. We’re adding $1 for every person who shares a photo wearing a rally cap on social media using the hashtag #DKRally and hope you will join us in supporting this effort.
As a special thank you to our customers we are also offering you a free $100K DFS contest to Fantasy Madden Football. We will be running the contest on April 27th which marks our 8th anniversary. Click here to enter.
We are excited for the innovation, new products and expanded reach that going public will afford us. It is an honor to continue on this adventure with you, and we very much look forward to what the future will bring.
Thank you all again for making today possible.
Stay safe
Jason, Paul, and Matt
