Are you ready for this new 2019 Cowboys Mock Draft? It is almost halfway through the 2018-19 NFL season and the Cowboys are a talented team with a problem they have to address on offense: will the handcuffs finally come off Jason Garrett and Dak Prescott?

Can Prescott even lead a more complicated down-field passing attack?

He has show flashes but fans are getting frustrated. If you are ready for life after Dak, Cowboysfan has a new mock for you.

His 2019 Cowboys Mock Draft picks below:

1. Cowboys: Justin Herbert QB Oregon

6’5″ 225 lbs. Round 1: I don’t think Dak Prescott is the only reason Dallas is bad on offense. The receivers aren’t very good, even with Michael Gallup. The O line also hasn’t been as good as it should be. And the coaching is very suspect. If a new coach comes in, then expect Dallas to possibly make a move for the QB position. In a draft where a majority of the worst teams have a young QB in place, we could see a rare situation where a good QB actually falls due to need at other positions. Herbert has all of the traits you want to see. He’s got a good build with a good arm, and is highly mobile. Some say he’s a bigger Marcus Mariotia, and I have heard comparisons to Luck even. I think he has a good arm, and has some leadership qualities, just not to the level of say a Baker Mayfield. He has good instincts when to pull a ball down and scramble. However, the college style offense only has him read one side of the field, so decision making isn’t ideal. He also doesn’t have many impressive wins on his resume, which can hurt his stock a little. In a class where the QBs aren’t elite prospects he’s the best one, and if he is within reach Dallas shouldn’t hesitate to take him.

2. Cowboys: Collin Johnson WR Texas

6’5″ 220 lbs. Round 2: The WRs aren’t very good right now. Part of that is the talent level, but I also think the constant rotation and lack of scheme hurts their production mainly guys like Hurns and Gallup. Johnson can help turn that around. A very big bodied guy who uses that size well. He is good on contested catches. He doesn’t have blazing speed, but doesn’t struggle to go down field. He is a great redzone option given his size and ability to go up and get the ball. His issues are that he is not a great route runner and has been inconsistent during his career. However, with interviews he wants to get better and be even more physical, and looks to improve his blocking. This shows he takes well to coaching. If you allow Gallup to be the route runner and Johnson to be the athletic specimen I think you can be very good in the next few years.

3. Cowboys: Troy Dye OLB Oregon

Troy Dye Oregon 6’3″ 224 lbs. Round 3: People are going to call me crazy for taking a LB here considering the current depth they have at the position. But we’re probably looking at the end of Sean Lee’s career. He may be good for another year or so, but consistent injuries and age, are likely going to take its toll, and with young talents like LVE and Smith they could make the move sooner, rather than later. I think Smith has played well, but if we look closely he’s excellent as a blitzer, but coverage isn’t his best attribute. He’s not a liability, but the change of direction still isn’t quite there, so bringing him on as a SAM and allowing him to blitz may be in his best interest and the team. Move LVE to MLB, and drafting a guy like Dye is going to make the Cowboys group the youngest and arguably the best LB in the NFL. Dye has some good length, but ridiculous athletic ability. He can flow from sideline to sideline, he’s slippery and fast, to the point that if he gets going it’s near impossible to get a hand on him. Can keep up with TE and RBs in coverage as well. Very productive. However, he isn’t quite strong enough yet and won’t take on blockers often.
