Scott Galloway aka Prof G put out a brilliant video that sums up the business behind the Kaepernick-Nike ad campaign.
Basically it can be summed up like this: Nike did the math.
This move is effectively a arbitrage of older, conservative customers for younger, “urban” customers. Younger customers will not only will live longer & buy more product but this campaign will also resonate a deep emotional connection.
