Giants Scouts Reportedly Eyeing Shedeur Sanders as Future QB1
The buzz around Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders continues to grow, and...
The fun part about draft season is that everyone gets a chance to have their opinion heard. Cowboysfan from our draft community has decided to have his words heard and of course on MDHQ we give everyone the platform to express their opinion.
Infante’s draft has a few things our friend disagreed with, just check it out below:
1. Jets: Nick Bosa DE Ohio State
I am a little disappointed this pick wasn’t an OT, since I feel that protecting Darnold is a more important issue. However, I cannot fault the Jets for taking a higher ranking player in Bosa. Bosa will bring excellent value to that edge rusher spot that the Jets have needed for a while now.
2. Dolphins: Ed Oliver DT Houston
I do think the Dolphins have bigger needs than DT, but again this is the highest rated guy for me left. Oliver is an excellent defender in both the running and passing games, and is a guy you can build around. I think QB is a bigger need, but you can’t go wrong with taking a guy like Oliver.
3. Bills: Jonah Williams OT Alabama
Williams is a great option at this spot. The Bills lost more than half of their starting O line, and getting Williams would be great. He’s equally good in run and pass blocking, however I have Greg Little rated higher than Williams at this time. I don’t think too much separates the two, so I do like this pick, but I do think Little would be a better choice right here.
4. Cardinals: Trey Adams OT Washington
The Cards got Rosen in the draft last year, and the best thing they can do for him is take an O lineman. Look, I like Adams as a player, and had he not been hurt he would have been a top ranked selection, but he’s not a top five player for me. He’s coming off injury, and he’s a bit slow as a pass protector right now. With Greg Little still on the board, I just can’t accept this pick. I am not a fan of this selection right now.
5. Bengals: Justin Herbert QB Oregon
At least Jacob agrees that Andy Dalton is not the QB for the Bengals. He isn’t that great, even though he’s not bad. Herbert offers more upside, with an NFL body and arm strength, he’s also quite accurate, but his inability as of right now to read a defense and go through progessions worries me. I do have Will Grier rated higher as well. This is an okay pick, but there were better players left to choose from in my opinion.
6. Bears: Clelin Ferrell DE Clemson
I like this player, but I’m not in love with him like everyone else. He has good size, and bends well off the edge, and should be able to come in and immediately contribute. However, I do think he needs work as a run defender, and has to develop more counter moves. But I think players like Deandre Baker, Greedy Williams, or an O lineman like David Andrews would have been a better selection at this point.
7. Buccaneers: Jarrett Stidham QB Auburn
I don’t love or hate this selection from Jacob. Stidham is my second rated QB, however, I just don’t see the Bucs giving up on Winston, as they didn’t this past year. However, I do think their patience is wearing thin, so I think this is an acceptable selection. Stidham can play in the NFL right away. While he needs work on his short passing, he has shown the ability to make intermediate throws, run play action, and read a defense.
8. Browns: Rashan Gary DT Michigan
I love the player. Gary is an excellent 3 tech option with the ability to be an elite interior rusher. However, I wonder where he plays. I just don’t like his fit as a 5 tech or a 3-4 DE in teh Browns scheme, but when a player like this falls to you, you have to take him and worry about the scheme fit later. I like this selection.
9. Redskins: A.J. Brown WR Ole Miss
The Redskins lost a lot of WR in FA and Doctson simply hasn’t developed well. Brown is a fast fairly large guy with great hands. I do think he needs work in playing better against sronger competition, but he has the tools and I like this pick for the skins.
10. Colts: Devin White ILB LSU
The Colts just need anything to get going and getting White would be great. He’s a guy who can flow sideline to sideline and is excellent in coverage as a LB. I do have Greedy and Baker rated higher, but getting a field general for that defense may be more important. I like this pick.
11. Lions: Dexter Lawrence DT Clemson
Lawrence is great as a run stuffer, but won’t offer much if anything in the passing game. He’s very large and demands to be double teamed every snap. The Lions need help fixing their D line with aging players. This is a good pick for them to start that process of rebuilding.
12. Seahawks: Greg Little OT Ole Miss
Greg Little is excellent, being able to do everything you need an OT to be able to do, but I just don’t see him falling this far or being the 3rd OT taken. So while I like the fit, I just don’t agree with Jacob on where he’s fallen in this draft.
13. Giants: Drew Lock QB Missouri
The Giants need help on the offensive line and at QB. Face it Eli Manning hasn’t been a great QB ever in his career, and he’s simply getting older. Lock has all the physical tools, but I don’t think he quite has the touch you’re looking for in a top selection. He’s not bad by any means, but he needs work. I am not a fan of this pick since I do think there are a few guys left that are better.
14. Broncos: Devin Bush ILB Michigan
I don’t think that Bush is great in coverage, although he’s not a liability. He’s better against the run and takes the right angles to the ball. Granted O line is still the top need for this team, and with all of the Wisconsin linemen still available it’s hard to not take one of them over Bush here.
15. Ravens: N’Keal Harry WR Arizona State
After AJ Browns, trying to find the next best WR is a crap shoot. You could argue for Johnson, Samuel or Harry here. Harry is a big bodied guy that catches everything in his immediate vicinity, and will go up and get the football. His route running is suspect though, but given his frame and his leaping ability he is a good option for the Ravens who look to add a playmaker.
