Shilo Sanders Draft Stock Takes Hit After Struggles Versus K-State
Known for his hard-hitting style, Shilo Sanders has been criticized for...
16. Ravens: Sidney Jones CB Washington
Similar to the Colts, the Ravens need a pass rusher but Ozzie Newsome always seems to go BPA and Jones would hit on a huge need and gives them great value. The Ravens are getting old on defense and need some new blood.
17. Redskins: Jabrill Peppers S Michigan
The Redskins have needed a safety for a while and Deangelo has not been able to stay healthy. Peppers is one of the most talented kids in this draft but the big question is what his best position is? I think use him as a safety with some looks at LB plus you have to utilize him on STs when needed.
18. Titans: Corey Davis WR Western Michigan
Titans fans have to love this draft so far as they get the #1 CB which is 1 huge need filled. Now they get the #2(although some would argue #1) WR in the draft. At 6’3 Davis give the Titans and their young QB a legit #1 target at WR. So far this is a great haul for Tennessee!
19. Buccaneers: Taco Charlton DE Michigan
There were a lot of possibilities here that I could have went with but I went with Taco here because they need to upgrade the pass rush in a bad way. They drafted Noah Spence in rd2 last year but they still need another person that can get to the QB. The offense really started clicking last year but they lost a lot of close games because they just couldn’t get that final stop so IMO defense is the way to go here.
20. Broncos: Forrest Lamp OT Western Kentucky
The Broncos have to improve on the OL as the Russell Okung experiment did not work out. Lamp made a great impression at the senior bowl even though he had to leave with an injury. He also looked great vs Alabama this past season which turned a lot of heads. He may ultimately be a Guard in the NFL but the Broncos have multiple needs on the OL so a player with versatility would be coveted.
21. Lions: Jalen Tabor CB Florida
The Lions also have many different directions they could go here but I went with BPA that fills a need. Tabor can pair up with Darius Slay to form a nice duo that will be needed when you play Arron Rodgers 2x a year.
22. Dolphins: Haason Reddick OLB Temple
Even if they Dolphins retain Kiko Alonso they still need to upgrade both OLB spots and provide pass rush when needed.
23. Giants: David Njoku TE Miami
The Giants defense made huge strides in 2016 but the offense was terrible. OBJ is 1 of the leagues best weapons and Sterling Shepard looks like he will be a nice compliment to him, but defenses have figured out how to cover the giants with the 2 high safeties. This leaves the middle of the field open but they had nobody to take advantage….enter Njoku who has tremendous athleticism and is project to run a low 4.5 40 time. This will create matchup nightmares for defense and maybe get that offense moving again.
24. Raiders: Caleb Brantley – DT, Florida
The Raiders need more interior pass rush and Brantley will be able to come in immediately and make an impact.
25. Texans: Deshaun Watson QB Clemson
Watson may not last this long in the real draft where trades can happen but in this draft he falls and the Texans have to feel they screwed up with Brock. Osweiler will be on the team in 2017 because of his contract but in 2018 they can move on easily. Just like the 1st 2 QBs they benefit from a year of sitting but Watson may find himself starting sooner than later.
26. Seahawks: Garett Bolles – OT, Utah
Seattle MUST improve the OL. Wilson was banged up early on in the season but he toughed it out. They cannot count on that year in year out so they have to protect him. Bolles has freakish athleticism but the knock on him is he is inexperienced at the FBS level only playing for 1 year. His upside will be hard to pass on in rd1 and the Seahawks are desperate.
27. Chiefs: Marlon Humphrey CB Alabama
I can see Reid taking a QB to develop behind newly acquired QB Tony Romo so Pat Mahomes or a trade up may be possibilities. Marcus Peters is a stud but they never recovered from the loss of Sean Smith. Humphrey and Peters would be a great young duo in the secondary.
28. Cowboys: Malik McDowell DT Michigan State
Dallas has to go defense heavy this draft. McDowell is great value hear as well as his versatility. He can play on the edge and kick inside to DT as well. Whoever the best defensive player is on the board is who they should take.
29. Packers: Tre’Davious White CB LSU
RB was very tempting but this is a deep class and Rodgers will get the job done regardless who the RB is. The Packers suffered so many injuries in the secondary last season they MUST get quality bodies on the field and for depth. It wouldn’t shock me to see them invest multiple picks in the secondary this year.
30. Steelers: Takkarist McKinley OLB UCLA
The Steelers have not gotten the production they have expected from their early picks they have invested at OLB. McKinley is a great value here at 30 and fills a need that could be big in 2018.
31. Falcons: Charles Harris DE Missouri
Vic Beasley broke out in 2016 but they have nothing opposite him. Dan Quinn has done a great job building this defense but they still need more pass rush and run stoppers.
32. Patriots: Tim Williams OLB Alabama
Bill Belichick has a strong relationship with Nick Saban so he double dips into the Bama pool in round 1. They trade Chandler Jones and Jamie Collins last year so they need to replace those players. Shea McClellin was picked off the scrapheap and Trey Flowers is not an elite talent. Williams has scheme versatility with BB will love and he also gets a great value as Williams has great talent but there is some character issues that could drop him. The Pats have never been shy about taking chances on those types of players and with the strong locker room and culture they have in NE, those moves almost always turn work out for them.
