Lupe Fiasco to Destroy Physical Copies of ‘Lasers’ Album

2011’s Lasers was Lupe Fiasco’s third studio album and somehow considered a failure in the hip hop history books. The album was critically panned citing bad beat selection and depressing subject matter.

Personally I feel the album is a personal classic. The subject matter resonates with me. For goodness sakes he starts the album with “My self portrait, shows a man that the wealth tortured, self absorbed with his own self…” It was probably Lupe’s most honest album ever considering The Cool was themed and his other albums were more socially conscious.

Speaking of socially conscious records, track number two on the album is the classic “Words I Never Said.” I will admit while I champion the album it steers way off track with the fourth track “I Don’t Wanna Care Right Now”. In my opinion the beat, hook, and content on that track is the sole reason the album was critically panned.

Some of the other tracks on the album “Beautiful Lasers,” “Words I Never Said,” “Letting Go,” “The Show Goes On,” and “Break the Chain” are all A1 records.

Either way, whether my opinion matters or not Lupe is now offering fans a way to rid themeselves of the album if they hate it that much.

That’s right. Lupe is offering to destory any fan’s physical copy of Lasers if sent to him:

My 3rd musically related thing I want to accomplish this year is not to make another album but to do something waaaay stupider…I want to unmake an album. I watched the ATARI E.T. documentary and got inspired. So here’s my idea. For all you people who really hated my 3rd album LASERS for whatever reason in the universe I want you to send it back to me so I can destroy it with an actual Laser. You not getting any money back or an apology or anything like that. The fact still remains that a lot of people really loved LASERS (Me Included) despite the popular myth that it’s one of the worst rap albums ever but sometimes the myth can be stronger than the truth. So yeah….if you have a physical copy of LASERS that you absolutely hate and wish for it to be rendered non-existent then you can send it back to me and I’ll have it destroyed with an actual giant laser and send it into next world in spectacular grand fashion!
