Post Super Bowl 49 Mock Draft!

Super Bowl 49 was one of the most entertaining Super Bowls in a long time. The Seattle Seahawks unsuccessfully defended their crown against the AFC Champion New England Patriots. We will forever question the decision of Pete Carroll’s staff to throw the ball on second and goal, but the history’s in the books and it is what it is.

With that said- it’s draft season! It’s only right to hit you with a brand new NFL mock draft for 2015!

Picks below:

1. Buccaneers: Marcus Mariota QB Oregon
The Buccaneers suffered through a season of ineptitude at quarterback long enough. Unfortunately for them it was in one of the weakest quarterback years in a long time. Hopefully Mariota will prove that he can process and manage a NFL offense at an elite level. There are a lot of questions about him, but all in all he’s a much safer pick than Jameis Winston who has potential to be on the “all 3 A.M. team.” Absolutely no character concerns with Mariota. He’s the pick unless its traded.

2. Titans: Leonard Williams DT USC
You could argue that the Titans already have the best defensive tackle in football, yet you could also argue their isn’t another elite player next to him. Jurrell Casey is drawing a double on 90% of the snaps he plays.

3. Jaguars: Dante Fowler DE Florida
I’ve said it time and time again, Dante Fowler is going to be in the mix for #1 overall. He’s a physical specimen who just seems to keep getting better year after year. You know the Jaguars usually play true to the draft board and I think Fowler is going to grade out as high if not higher than Williams.

4. Raiders: Amari Cooper WR Alabama
Oakland needs a play-maker on the outside to help Derek Carr’s development. Cooper is highly regarded and should be a solid pro.

5. Redskins: Landon Collins S Alabama
What is there to be said about this team that hasn’t already? This is the same team that signed Ryan Clark last season, who promptly predicted a 16-0 season that of course didn’t happen. Washington needs a safety and this is a slight reach but the next best safety isn’t in Collins’ class.

6. Jets: Randy Gregory DE Nebraska
The Jets are committed to Geno Smith so their attention can be turned elsewhere. There is no receiver worth picking over Gregory here, so pure talent takes precedent over immediate need.

7. Bears: Shane Ray DE Missouri
Shane Ray is one of the hottest prospects in this class. I understand the Bears need a safety but the best one is already off the board in this scenario and it is WAY too early for Gerod Holliman.

8. Falcons: Vic Beasley OLB Clemson
The Falcons can’t buy a pass rush…. or can they? Free agency is yet to be seen but some how some way their near league low sack total needs to improve. Drafting arguably the quickest pass rusher in this class absolutely makes sense.

9. Giants: Brandon Scherff OT Iowa
Scouts are cooling on Scherff, but if he’s being compared to Zach Martin methinks NFL teams won’t cool on him quite so fast. Especially not the Giants who still need help up front.

10. Rams: Andrus Peat OT Stanford
No quarterback? Andrus Peat is a prototypical franchise tackle and selecting Peat could kick Robinson over to the right side.

11. Vikings: DeVante Parker WR Louisville
The Vikings need a receiver, maybe not at number eleven but grabbing Teddy Bridgewater’s primary target from college is too good to pass up. Don’t be surprised if Cordarrelle Patterson’s name is floated in trade talks.

12. Browns: Kevin White WR West Virginia
Josh Gordon isn’t addicted* to anything, but he’s failed yet another drug test that’s rendered him useless to this franchise. Even if he appeals and gets it down to seven or eight games, that’s still another half season Gordon will be sitting on the couch.

13. Saints: Jameis Winston QB Florida State
Wait, what?! Yes, yes. I think Jameis is the better of the two quarterbacks but he comes with his level of baggage. Drew Brees is currently 36 going on 37 and there is NO plan behind him at this moment. Jameis can come in and learn how to be a pro from one of the best in the biz, then in a year or two when Drew is ready to hang it up he can take right over.

14. Dolphins: Melvin Gordon III RB Wisconsin
Would the Dolphins go running back? There seems to be no future between Knowshon Moreno and Lamar Miller who both have been consistently inconsistent. Gordon would be the prototypical feature back to alleviate the pressure from this offense’s struggling passing game.

15. 49ers: Dorial Green-Beckham WR Oklahoma
Wait…. WHAT?!!! DGB in the first round?! I gave it thought, and he’s simply too good for the 49ers to not gamble on. This unit has no future as of now, and only one receiver (Anquan Boldin) may be left if they choose to move pass the oft-injured Michael Crabtree along with Stevie Johnson. Dorial is 6’5, a great hands catcher, and attacks defenses from the line of scrimmage similar to a Demariyus Thomas. If you can just get this kid’s head on straight you have a top 5 receiver in the league waiting to happen. Coach Tomsula is the kind of no nonsense type of coach that could unlock that potential.

16. Texans: Marcus Peters CB Washington
Is this a risky pick? Possibly, depending on what you believe happened between Peters and his coaches. Physically Peters is still one of the best corners in this class. The Texans are relying on Jonathan Joseph who’s up in age and they should grab a young prospect before its too late.

17. Chargers: Todd Gurley RB Georgia
Would the Chargers draft another injured running back? Considering this team relied on the undrafted Brandon Oliver to fill the loss of Ryan Matthews, they need an explosive back to shoulder the bulk of the carries. Can Gurley be that man? I think he can.

18. Chiefs: Sammie Coates WR Auburn
No receiver caught a touchdown pass for this team. None! Even though Alex Smith is captain check down to a degree this team is dying for an explosive playmaker. Sammie Coates’ explosive speed and knack for the big play is exactly what this offense needs. He’s absolutely the player the Chiefs should target with this selection.

19. Browns: Danny Shelton DT Washington
The Browns have invested heavily in their corners. There is a lot to be desired up front on both lines and if Shelton is there at 19 he would be a great pick to take over at the nose. Yes, Johnny Manziel is checking into rehab and is on shaky ground but he’s still young and Brian Hoyer almost led this team to a playoff berth.

20. Eagles: Ifo Ekpre-Olomu CB Oregon
The easy Oregon-to-Eagles connection, I know. Chip Kelly is linked to every Oregon prospect in this draft but the Eagles actually need a corner. They aren’t going to pay Carey Williams big money and Ifo has the highest ceiling of any corner in this class.

21. Bengals: Alvin Dupree DE Kentucky
Michael Johnson’s production was sorely missed as this squad struggled to get pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

22. Steelers: Jalen Collins CB LSU
The Steelers come into the draft in need of a yong corner every year, and every year without fail they go in a different direction first round. Will this be the year that ends? Maybe the 6’2 corner is finally the pick that ends the trend.

23. Lions: Eddie Goldman DT Florida State
Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley are both eligible for free agency, and without a doubt Suh will not be back.

24. Cardinals: Shaq Thompson OLB Washington
Somehow Shaq slides in this draft. There is a possibility of this happening though, due to other players rocketing up the board and the perception Thompson not really considered a pass rusher. There are also concerns over his size and scheme fit.

25. Panthers: Ereck Flowers OT Miami
If the Panthers don’t some offensive linemen Cam Newton should demand a trade. Flowers is a player who could go literally anywhere from 10-30 in this draft and will likely elevate on draft day. I like the way he gets downfield in the run game and that athleticism will go a long way with the mobile Cam Newton.

26. Ravens: Trae Waynes CB Michigan State
Something about Trae Waynes seems like it will attract Ozzie Newsome. I don’t know exactly what, but I usually have an eye for these things. Waynes is a tough and scrappy ball hawk who lives to make life difficult for big receivers. Baltimore needs another corner to move one of their current starters to the slot, Waynes could play perfect.

27. Cowboys: Jordan Phillips DT Oklahoma
Jerry Jones is the type of owner-GM to always go against the grain. In the past this has worked out favorably as he’s hit on some gems, especially on the offensive line. With his team desperately needing a pass rush from this defensive line, the fast riser Phillips will definitely be on Jerry’s board.

28. Broncos: Cameron Erving OT Florida State
The Broncos unsuccessfully tried to shuffle the offensive line in 2014 and that led to Peyton Manning being caught dead in the water one two many times last season. Suring up the line is absolutely necessary if this squad is going to get back on the horse, pony up, and try to ride out the Peyton era with a ring (dem puns doe).

29. Colts: Markus Golden DE Missouri
The Colts could stand to grab another pass rusher as Cory Redding is probably set to retire after this next season.

30. Packers: Eric Kendricks ILB UCLA
Eric Kendricks is the prototypical inside linebacker prospect in this draft class. Seeing that this squad has tried to mend their problems on the inside by moving Clay Matthews out of position, it is finally time to move on from AJ Hawk and draft at his position.

31. Seahawks: Maxx Williams TE Minnesota
The Seattle Seahawks for all their greatness is a team that still lacks playmakers. I doubt we’ll ever see this team invest heavily at the wide receiver position after almost winning two rings back-to-back with Percy Harvin playing a single digit amount of games before getting traded. Now that the blunder of SB49 is behind them, Seattle is going to have to find a way to manufacture big plays without big money receivers. Why not borrow the Patriots strategy and double down on the tight ends? Luke Willson is a great young player and pairing him with a versatile player like Maxx Williams would look real good.

32. Patriots: PJ Williams CB Florida State
Is Darrelle Revis going to return or is he going to cash in on yet another big money short term deal?
