Giants Scouts Reportedly Eyeing Shedeur Sanders as Future QB1
The buzz around Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders continues to grow, and...
We are another week down in the NFL season and it is winding down to a close. The college football season is officially over and we are awaiting only the results of the many bowl games that are left to be played.
With that said, a lot of shake ups went on in this week’s NFL Mock Draft order. Carolina found another way to lose (of course) as well as Philly and Oakland. Kansas City pulled off a remarkable upset in the wake of tragedy.
The picks remain the same in the top 5 or so picks but once we get into the heart of the draft things shake out differently. I even have a running back emerging back into the first round…
Picks below:
1. Chiefs: Smith, Geno QB West Virginia
The Chiefs found a way to win last week, and Brady Quinn played the part of leader well. But that was just one game. While Quinn looked INCREDIBLE it was against arguable the worst passing defense in the game. Geno Smith gives them the young passer that they need to move forward now.
2. Jaguars: Jones, Jarvis OLB Georgia
It is still not out the question that Jarvis Jones could be the #1 pick in this draft. How crazy would it be if the Chiefs decide to draft him to replace Belcher? Either way, everything leans towards the Jaguars passing up Matt Barkley and staying with Blain Gabbert in 2013. Jarvis it is.
3. Raiders: Lotulelei, Star DT Utah
The Raiders need a plug on that line, and Star is the best one available. There is always room for a DB in Oakland as well. Like I said previously, I expect them to give Pryor a chance to win the QB job from Carson Palmer.
4. Eagles: Barkley, Matt QB USC
Who is going to be the Eagles QB in 2013? Who? Mike Kafka? Nick Foles? Alex Smith? Ronald McDonald? Daffy Duck? Me? You?
When you don’t have a quarterback you must select one. That is the rule, like it or not. Until the Eagles make a play for a vet I have to believe they cannot pass on the USC QB.
5. Panthers: Milliner, Demarcus CB Alabama
The Panthers pass defense is atrocious. To be polite about it. Milliner will come in to take meaningful snaps ASAP.
6. Chargers: Joeckel, Luke OT Texas AM
The Chargers need a lot of help. The offensive line could need a LT, and if Joeckel is there I just don’t see how they pass him up. The need plus value is too great.
7. Browns: Teo, Manti ILB Notre Dame
The Browns luck out with Teo again in this NFL Mock Draft. I feel like Teo will go around 5-8 so this is just right.
8. Lions: Reid, Eric S LSU
Lions fans killed me last mock, so here is YA BOY Eric Reid going to D Town.
9. Cardinals: Lewan, Taylor OT Michigan
There may be a new QB down in Arizona again, but no matter who it is he must be protected.
10. Titans: Werner, Bjoern DE Florida State
Derrick Morgan is playing well but disappears from time to time. Werner pushes him and possibly creates bookends.
11. Bills: Mingo, Barkevious OLB LSU
Bills need whatever they can get defensively. The billion dollar defense that cannot stop anyone just lost Shawne Merriman likely for career, and I think Tom Brady just scored again on them.
12. Dolphins: Moore, Damontre Texas A&M
Jake Long will command $15 million+ if the Dolphins franchise him. Won’t happen. They take BPA here go OT later.
13. Saints: Hankins, Johnathan DT Ohio State
Speaking of players who aren’t going to get paid big money soon, what’s up with Broderick Bunkley? Looks like the Saints are going to move on from him soon.
14. Jets: Jordan, Dion DE Oregon
The Jets won’t pick a QB for three reasons. (1) Mark Sanchez JUST signed a $20 million extension. (2) Multiple draft picks were invested to get Tim Tebow is on this team. (3) Rex won’t be fired and will stick with “his guy.”
15. Rams: Allen, Kennan WR Cal
Sam Bradford needs a pass catcher in the worst way. Can Brian Quick get on the field?
16. Buccaneers: Banks, Jonathan CB Mississippi State
The Bucs need a big physical corner. Enter Jonathan Banks. He is rising fast on draft charts.
17. Vikings: Richardson, Sheldon DT Missouri
The Vikings could use a WR but with Ponder at Quarterback, will it matter? The pick is better invested on defense where Williams and Allen aren’t getting any younger.
18. Rams: Warmack, Chance OG Alabama
Sam Bradford needs protection up front. We all know that.
19. Cowboys: Montgomery, Sam DE LSU
Jason Hatcher will turn 30 this season, Marcus Spears is in witness protection, and Anthony Spencer is going to be a big money free agent. What is the plan here? Enter: Sam Montgomery… and he’s from the south which always makes the selection to Dallas that much more likely. What’s up Morris Claiborne!
20. Bengals: Mosley, CJ ILB Alabama
The Bengals at one time were losing enough games to land Teo. Now they will have to settle for CJ Mosley as the future at ILB.
21. Steelers: Ogletree, Alec ILB Georgia
Between Mosley and Ogletree, the Steelers are going to select one to take over for Larry Foote.
22. Seahawks: Williams, Terrance WR Baylor
T-Will is getting some light Heisman consideration with a near 2,000 yard season. Pete Carroll may over draft players but the players he selects (Carpenter, Irvin) produce for him. T-Will is no exception.
23. Giants: Jones, Barrett OG Alabama
If Eli is going to continue being the late season terror he is (I mean that in a good way NYG fans) he is going to need time in the pocket. Another option here could be ILB with Keith Rivers and Chase Blackburn leaving much to be desired from the days of Antonio Pierce.
24. Packers: Eifert, Tyler TE Notre Dame
If the Packers retain Jermichael Finley I’ll be surprised. Doesn’t seem likely at this point.
25. Colts: Jenkins, John DT Georgia
The Colts are doing great this year. Jenkins gives them a LEGIT nose tackle for the 3-4. At 353 pounds I think he will have no problem taking up two blockers.
26. Bears: Fluker, DJ OT Alabama
Fluker is going to remain in my first round. I think he’s simply too good for a team to pass on him and try to wait for in round 2. Jay Cutler also approves this pick.
27. 49ers: Vaccaro, Kenny S Texas
The 49ers would like to develop some depth at DB. Gholston is one of the games’ best and Whitner is very good, but Ghoston is franchised and may end up getting paid elsewhere.
28. Broncos: Elam, Matt S Florida
Mike Adams is a stop gap at safety and Rahim “The Dream” Moore hasn’t made any big plays yet in his short career. Denver could move on from one, or both…
29. Ravens: Okafor, Alex DE Texas
The Ravens always select the highest rated player. Okafor gives them depth if T-Sizzle’s injuries keep piling up. You never know with a 30+ aged athlete. That wall comes QUICK…
30. Patriots: Austin, Tavon WR West Virginia
The Patriots end up with one of the best value picks in this version of my 2013 NFL mock with Tavon Austin. Imagine if he learns all the veteran tricks from Wes Welker… man….
31. Texans: Fisher, Eric OT Central Michigan
The Texans may need a right tackle. Either way, for depth it wouldn’t hurt.
32. Falcons: Bernard, Giovani RB North Carolina
First running back to crack the mock in a minute! Michael Turner is slowly slowing down and behind him is Rodgers who I’ve seen run for more negative yards than any back in the game. Defensive end is a need but ultimately Bernard is just too good to pass on.
And because:
