2013 NFL Mock Draft- December 12-12-12 Edition

Today is a once in a lifetime day, December 12th, 2012. What better way to celebrate it than to release a new 2013 NFL Mock Draft? Of course there is no better way.

We are headed into bowl season in college football, and the stretch run for the playoffs in the NFL. Right now teams are jockeying for position and you have a lot of coaches trying to coach for their futures alongside players as well.

This week’s draft order really didn’t change but a lot of the picks were shuffled around. I listened to all the criticism of the last mock (yes, I read EVERY comment) and no longer have Matt Barkley going to the Eagles. So Eagles fans, chill out for now. However I do not have Heisman runner up Collin Klein in my mock despite his popularity.

I do have the other Heisman runner-up going in the top 10 though. Check out where Manti Teo and the rest of this years class are going below:

1. Chiefs: Smith, Geno QB West Virginia
Another week down, and I still have the Chiefs opting for Geno Smith. At the end of the day, Matt Cassell cannot be your plan going into 2013. I have not completely ruled out Jarvis Jones as tragedy has struck this linebacker corps… but who would be the QB then? Premium pick goes to the premium position, for now it remains Geno Smith.

2. Jaguars: Jones, Jarvis OLB Georgia
The Jags are content with letting Gabbert and Henne duke it out for another season. Until a new GM is hired and let’s it be known he is not going for Gabbert/Henne we have to place Jarvis here.

3. Raiders: Lotulelei, Star DT Utah
What do the Raiders really have at DT these days? It is almost hard to watch their run defense these days. A disruptor like Star will come in and try to correct some of that, but one man can only do so much.

4. Eagles: Joeckel, Luke OT Texas AM
Eagles fans- no more Matt Barkley! In just his third career game Nick Foles actually threw three touches and won a game. As long as he keeps that up he will be the leader in the clubhouse for 2013. Joeckel is the prototypical pick because this whole line has issues. King Dunlap has to be on the bench next season. There is no way they can go another season with him starting, no disrespect…

5. Panthers: Milliner, Demarcus CB Alabama
Many will have the Panthers penciled in for a DT here, but I still believe they NEED the best defensive back they can grab. This is one of the worst DB units in the league and until they invest at the positions that will remain true. Charles Johnson and Greg Hardy are one of the best defensive end bookends in the league- problem is there is no one behind them. Hakori Nakumara should be playing on the 50 yard field….

6. Titans: Werner, Bjoern DE Florida State
To quote a friend of the site, “How good is the Florida State DE?” Me: “He is going top 10.” “REALLY?” Yes, really.

7. Lions: Teo, Manti ILB Notre Dame
The Lions always draft the highest rated player on their board. This year it would be Teo, who some feel could go #1 overall.

8. Cardinals: Barkley, Matt QB USC
The Cardinals have to do something at QB. Larry Fitzgerald isn’t going to pull a Terrell Owens and start flipping out on the organization for the trash they have starting at QB so I’ll do it for him: DRAFT A QB OR SIGN MICHAEL VICK.

9. Chargers: Lewan, Taylor OT Michigan
The Chargers are going to move on from the Norv Turner era and I think that means the end of reaching on defensive players. Get Phillip some help. This entire offense needs upgrades short of Rivers himself and Antonio Gates. I wouldn’t even put it past them to slightly reach for Tyler Eiefert here: this offense needs a jolt of electricity. (Ooh see what I did there?!)

10. Browns: Moore, Damontre DE Texas AM
This is the pass rusher that completes the Browns defense. Damontre Moore could go top 5 when it is all said and done so keep an eye on this pick.

11. Bills: Mingo, Barkevious OLB LSU
The billion dollar defense that cannot stop anyone is going to have to find a game changer. It isn’t Mario Williams. It isn’t Shawne Merriman. Is it Mingoooo?

12. Dolphins: Fisher, Eric OT Central Michigan
Jake Long will be owed well over $15 million dollars if franchised.

13. Saints: Jordan, Dion DE Oregon
The Saints are going to shuffle that defensive line. Dion Jordan gives them a boost across from Cam Jordan or even in rotation alongside him.

Now that all of the bountygate members are cleared for what they did off the field, let’s start holding them accountable for their on the field actions which is: not stopping anyone in 2012.

14. Jets: Montgomery, Sam DE LSU
Would the Jets spend another premium pick on defensive line/pass rusher? Well, considering the fact they are totally ignoring the QB problem I think that defensive will take the blame again for another disappointing year. Funny thing is if the Jets win out from this point on they can make the playoffs.

15. Buccaneers: Banks, Jonathan CB Mississippi State
The moment the Buccaneers traded Aquib Talib, they showed their hand. Jonathan Banks needs to be a Buc or they really blew this pick.

16. Rams: Reid, Eric S LSU
Rumor is the Rams really want Eric Reid. After losing Blackmon in the 2012 NFL draft, I don’t see why they wouldn’t make sure they get their guy early this time.

17. Bengals: Okafor, Alex DE Texas
Michael Johnson may command big money in free agency so a replacement for this rotation would be really needed.

18. Vikings: Hankins, Johnathan DT Ohio State
The Vikings defensive line is getting long in the tooth. Time for some fresh blood. Hankins is a steal at this point.

19. Cowboys: Richardson, Sheldon DT Missouri
With a heavy heart, the Cowboys have to replace Josh Brent. Rumor is Jay Ratliff and Jerry Jones got in a shouting match so he may be gone too.

20. Rams: Warmack, Chance OG Alabama
Some people actually feel that Chance Warmack is the best football player in America. Whether that is true of not, Sam Bradford wouldn’t mind Chance taking his talents to St. Louis.

21. Steelers: Ogletree, Alec ILB Georgia
The Steelers are going to have to replace Larry Foote soon. Timmons is a beast, but he alone won’t be enough to replace the depth this LB core is going to lose when Foote and James Harrison retire.

22. Seahawks: Williams, Terrance WR Baylor
Every year the Seahawks “overdraft” someone in the NFL Draft, and they actually produce for Pete Carroll. Could Pete have his eye on the burner Terrance Williams to blow the top off defenses for Russell Wilson? Yes, he could.

23. Giants: Ansah, Ezekiel DE BYU
The Giants stock up on defensive ends like no one’s business. There are come contract situations still yet to be played out with some of the stars on this line so Ansah would be more than a luxury pick.

24. Bears: Cooper, Jonathan OG North Carolina
Jay Cutler is currently injured as I am typing this. He claimed maybe he is “just getting old” but hey… Peyton is old, has a worse neck, and isn’t missing any games because he isn’t getting hit like Cutler.

25. Colts: Fluker, DJ OT Alabama
I make no bones about it, I think DJ Fluker will be a very good player on the next level. If the Colts feel like it’s time to replace Winston Justice, there is no better man for the job than Danny Lee Jesus Fluker (that’s his real name btw).

26. Packers: Eifert, Tyler TE Notre Dame
Jermichael Finley has come alive in these last few weeks, but too little too late. Tom Crabtree, DJ Williams, and Eifert will hold it down in 2013.

27. Ravens: Mosley, CJ ILB Alabama
As said before, Ray Lewis will NEVER be replaced. But you have to plan for football without him.

28. 49ers: Vaccaro, Kenny S Texas
The 49ers haven’t extended a long-term contract to Goldson yet and Whitner is on the back nine of his career.

29. Broncos: Elam, Matt S Florida
The Broncos have to do something about the safety situation. Mike Adams is a stopgap and Rahim “The Dream” Moore hasn’t made any big plays so far in his short career. Brian Dawkins is not walking through that door.

30. Patriots: Allen, Keenan WR California
The Patriots finally cut Deion Branch, then Edleman got hurt and they had to bring back Stallworth. They can’t keep relying on the receivers of years past.

31. Texans: Hunter, Justin WR Tennessee
Someone had to drop in the mock with so many people moving up. In the words of Drake, “Justin’s my dude, I hate it had to be HIM!!!”

Who knows this could be a soft landing spot. With Andre Johnson already on one side he’ll get one-on-one coverage all day long.

32. Falcons: Bernard, Giovani RB North Carolina
Michael Turner is quietly slowing down, and there isn’t anything reliable behind him. Giovani Bernard is the best runner in the 2013 class and can contribute from day 1. A defensive end to replace Ray Edwards is an option as well.
