Shilo Sanders Draft Stock Takes Hit After Struggles Versus K-State
Known for his hard-hitting style, Shilo Sanders has been criticized for...
Those were the classic words uttered by then backup QB Vince Young after the Philadelphia Eagles made it rain in free agency on any and every free agent available. Signings of Steve Smith, Cullen Jenkins, Jason Babin, Nnamdi Asomugha, Ronnie Brown, Vince Young and a trade for Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie made the Eagles the champions of the offseason. But sadly, the game isn’t won on paper. You have to actually fit all those new players in your system and get some wins which the Eagles failed to do.
Why did the Eagles have such a bad season? It’s not just the slew of new players they signed all at the same time, but also some of the distractions surrounding the team. DeSean Jackson pouted over his contract dispute. Questions surrounded the reassignment of Juan Castillo from the offensive line to defensive coordinator as that unit struggled to stop anyone. The only bright spots on this team one would have to say was the play of LeSean McCoy at the running back position where he had an All-Pro season.
So what will the Eagles do in the draft? I have one suggestion for their 2012 draft: LINEBACKERS. Get them. Lots of them. That has been this team’s weakness since the day Hugh Douglas and Jeremiah Trotter retired.
